Today the world lost a sweet loving man Antwon Jackson, hairstylist/wigologist to daytime TV host Wendy Williams passed away this morning. Antwon just celebrated his 44th birthday on August 7th. Please keep his son Dontay and the rest of his family lifted up in prayer. Please be respectful of his family in their time of mourning.
Brief Bio
Antwon was born August 7, 1972 and raised in North Carolina. He remembers precisely when he decided to become a stylist. As a teen, he saw a TV commercial that changed his life — a Vidal Sasson commercial. “Here was this man holding a rich, wonderful cascade of hair with an intense sheen,” Antwon recalls. “And he was saying, ‘If you don’t look good, we don’t look good.’ Well, that was it for me. I was mesmerized, and I knew right then and there what I wanted to do for my life.” He started learning his craft immediately, and practicing on women throughout the neighborhood. He earned a cosmetology degree in Durham, and underwent more training in Chicago, New York, Florida, Atlanta, and Virginia – wherever the best classes were offered and the toughest styling jobs were to be found. Among his greatest early influences was John Atchison, who taught Antwon all about precision cuts. Back in North Carolina, women truly appreciated Antwon’s expertise. He worked as a salon stylist for two decades at Inflight Salon in Durham. He also become the top stylist at North Carolina Fashion Week. One year, he was called upon to style every model in the show.
My prayers are with his family at this time.

Antwon “IS” a beautiful soul. I remember watching him draw countless fashion plates, stunning asymmetric hair styles in pencil on paper in High School. I remember how beautiful I felt years later when he would do my hair, my mother loves the results of his work on her hair too. He was always smiling and brightly, like a diamond. He lived a full life. I am glad to have known him and he never forgot who he was and made himself available to us when he came home. I miss and love him.

Antwon, whom I’ve known for years. I thank God for having the opportunity to have known him. We attended the same high school and took Cosmetology together. We worked in the same salon together for three years after graduating from high school. Recently, about three weeks ago while in New York on vacation Antwon took time out of his busy schedule to meet me and my family. I hadn’t seen him in years and was so happy to see him. He was so excited to see us, while smiling from ear to ear. Such a fun person to be around, I told him “Antwon you are still the same” full of jokes, fun and laughter. He will be truly missed. My prayers go out to his family, love ones and friends.

Such a shock to all of us who admired Antwon. I am elated to have known Antwon and experience his talent in the hair industry. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I had the pleasure to have known his mother during my tenure at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Countless hours she and I would have little chats and she would always say how proud she is of her son. Antwon will be deeply missed.

Many prayers of comfort for the Family and close friends to Antwon… Most memorable moments for me was when he would wash and style my hair as he sang!!! You would have thought he was trying to get a record deal.. We laughed as Libby and others in the shop clowned him.. I do believe my hair grew due to his anointed hands and his singing… Rest in Peace beautiful Soul!!!!
